Spring Break from HOME!

Spring Break is almost over, and the kids and I have managed to stay home and have fun. We went out to eat EVERYDAY, did something fun and or kid friendly and managed to do most things for free! We started out the week at McDonald's playland. The next day spent a few hours at the local animal shelter volunteering (loving on cats, walking a dog) and that was by far the BEST time had by everyone. It's so neat to give of yourself and have it be so fun at the same time. The next day we went to a playdate at our friends Nicholas and Alex's house (Tyler too!) and then today we went to the aquarium and did a bit of shopping for our spring crocs. All in all, a pretty good week for everyone! Here's pics of the face painting that the aquarium does....it's really fast, and way cool!

Traditions!

I sometimes hate the way things have been "improved" upon over the years. Computers, I'm good with, cars, good with, Paas egg dying kits, not so good with. There are so many to choose from now, and so much crap to put all over the eggs, it could take days to decorate a dozen. That's insane! It's a craft meant for small children with the attention span of an ant. It's a craft that requires hard boiled eggs that if left out, turn to waste. It's a craft for crying out loud....meant to fill a window of an hour of less.

With that said, I went for the big .99 cents Paas kit, that came with 6 colors, one dipper, a fun little memory game (which has been played over and over again!) and some "stands" for the eggs. The kids had a blast, the activity itself wasn't too daunting for them, they weren't asking for more when we were finished and they loved the finished product. Who needs a $3 kit with googly eyes and glitter (that never completely leaves the house, E-V-E-R) when you can have this......
