Life in Goshen

This is brief. We are again having problems with the kids in the 'hood. They won't stay out of our yard and won't stay off of the elctrical boxes that Duke Energy, Cincinnati Bell and Time Warner have put up so lovingly in our front yard. Our solution? Well, it was between getting a beebee gun for Mothers' Day OR rubbing nursery scented Vaseline on the electrical boxes and taping up a sign saying "Keep Off." We went with the latter....just in case this ever goes to court! Are we "hillbilly" or what?

3 weeks and all I have to show for it....

Is a NEW kitten! Yes, you read right. I'm out of my mind and totally insane. Those of my friends who have cat allergies will no longer talk about coming to my home, but I understand (wink wink). So, here's the story... Tuesday night I get a call from Lillie's bus driver...who is also the grandma of Lillie's boyfriend (did you follow that?) She puts said grandson on the phone to "ask" me something. Of course, he asks if I want a kitten, to which I promptly reply NOOOOO! Grandma gets back on the phone and gives me the whole story. Little kitten was just found by her daughter this afternoon on the side of a busier road here in Goshen....and he was nursing off of his DEAD mommy. She had just been hit by a car and here's little kitty right there with her. So, the lady picked him up and took him to the bus drivers home who then called a few people before my crazy ass popped into her head. So, I get the kitten (how could I say no?) and keep it overnight. Next day I take it to work in a little LL Bean boat purse to show off and get a taker. I take him to the vet (where we discover he's only 5 weeks and weighs 1lb 1oz but relatively healthy) and whisk him off to his new home. All is well...I didn't get attached and we got Lillie settled down in a matter of minutes. Later that evening the dreaded phone call comes. Husband of the "taker" is completely allergic and they are bringing him back right now. So, we now have Max Casey. He's a gray and white medium haired baby with blue/gray eyes who is too cute for words. Even Terry wakes up at 5am to play and snuggle with him before he heads to work. Yes, we're crazy animal lovers...what can we say?

Mish mash of stuff

HEY! It's me...Julie! I'm officially on Spring Break in what feels like the coldest part of the freakin' world...OHIO! How I wish I could jump on a plane and go somewhere warm with my stack of overdue library books, sunglasses and a margarita! But no, I will be at the airport tomorrow to pick up Terry's Mom who is coming in for her first ever visit to our home. We have never had her as company before, so I'm quite curious to see how it will go for all of us.

The kids are WILD, Terry is crabby unless he's freezing his nuts off with a fishing pole in his hand waiting for a fish to bite---I am wishing he went back to his old hobby of golf...at least you have winters off for that one, ya know? And me, well, I am just me for now. I'm already hyped up on Easter candy and the Bunny hasn't even come here yet.

Zac has earned his first 3 tips in Karate this past week....so that was exciting! Lillie has adapted a "funny" voice and dialect, which she tends to use a few times a day...it really is funny...wish I could catch it on tape.

Oh, and Terry has a new BFF! This young guy (20) at his work really only has work tying him down, so for a few nights this past week they went fishing together after work and then yesterday and today he was back over here picking Terry up to go fish or out to breakfast or whatnot. It's like my husband is dating a new person! LOL! It does manage to get him out of my hair for a few hours though...and today they even took the kids with them, so I was ALL ALONE with the steam cleaner and our dirty carpets for HOURS! HEAVEN!!!! And Hell! At least at the end of it there was a nice new bottle of Louis-Jadot Beaujolais calling my name! YUMMMM
