I have discovered that although I don't like going to work 4 nights a week, even though I'm only part time, sometimes, the evenings have to make me giggle. Take Sunday evening, for example. This past Sunday I worked 5 hours, took 96 calls and here's a random sample of the things I had to deal with:
---Customer says, "That's all I need"--I reply, "Thank you for calling .....bank, we appreciate your business" and JUST as I'm ready to disconnect the call, I hear, "OH, one more thing..."--people, if you aren't really done with me, don't tease me!
---About 15 of those 96 calls were idiots that lost their debit card. A holiday weekend is upon us and people lose all ability to keep track of a small piece of plastic. If that's not bad enough, they all feel like giggling about it and giving me the same story....and when you've had 3 calls like this in a row, you just want to tell the next person that they are too stupid to have one and you cannot reorder one for them.
---Customer says, "Why can't I withdraw funds at the ATM?" I reply, "You don't have enough funds in your account" to which customer replies, "You usually let me overdraw my account up to $500, so why is now different?"---After looking at the account it seems that everytime payday comes around, this idiot overdraws ON PURPOSE around $500, and then pays loads of overdraft fees until the next payday comes along. The bank has since decided not to let this customer overdraw any longer and she's mad! Are you kidding? It's a CHECKING ACCOUNT, NOT A LOAN!!!!!! Get a grip!
--- My personal fave of the evening....a customer named Frogy. That's his first name...and no, I can't make that up!
Ahh, the joys of working for a bank. And while you all are enjoying fireworks tonite, I will be taking your calls...whether it be lease calls or online banking calls, or "I lost my check card" calls, I will be there, missing all the action. No need to feel sorry....I only have to work 2 hours! LOL! And for good measure, I called in sick last night and our family went to Coney Island for loads of rides, pizza, a hot air balloon glow and fabulous fireworks....and it made me feel much better (HAHA!)
