Thankful!

I'm learning more and more everyday to count my blessings and be thankful for all that I have. I hear so many things, see so much sadness and have had some pretty horrible times myself, but I made it through and I'm happy and things are well and I'm content. My sister on the other hand, is having the opposite happen to her right now. Aside from getting divorced after a short 5 month marriage, she decided to get into a specialized field of investments and has since been fired from her last job. Do you know that specialized jobs are hard to come by at this day in age? Hers is! So she married an alcoholic asshole in 2003, to which I toasted them at the reception and made a comment or two (or more, I can't remember!) about how he better treat her right and realize what he gained that day. She ended up leaving him and losing most of her brand new stuff, including her new house in exchange for the dogs that they adopted while they were together. She loves those dogs with all her heart and afraid that they would be abused, she gave up lots to this guy. What she forgot to do was follow through on their joint, open credit card accounts that he was to pay off and close. Meanwhile, she moves on in her career after the divorce, finds a new path, decides to give it a go with a new company, and whammo, gets fired 8 months later. You are now at February in my sister's life. She has been interviewing, looking out for the perfect opportunity and nothing has come along yet. She has been hanging out at the pool this summer and helping a friend run his bar. What a life! Until a few weeks back...on her way to help her friend, she gets rear ended by a uninsured driver, who wants her to lie to the sheriff and say that it was his Mom driving the car. My sister didn't lie, but now's she's stuck with a messed up rear end and has no money to pay her deductible to get it fixed. What is WRONG with this picture? Why isn't the uninsured in JAIL? I bet he would come up with the money damn skippy quick if he was faced with jail time. Makes me want to cancel our insurance and pocket the money. I mean really, if nothing happens to these losers, why not ALL drive around uninsured and just stick to prayer as our insurance? Fast forward to yesterday....sister gets a collection call. From a company that ex-husband was to pay off and close. Guess what the butthead did? He went out and charged a few thousand more $$$ in his and my sister's name! And didn't pay the bill! So now, she's being called upon to fix it! The unemployed girl, divorced from a jerk, hit by an uninsured driver and now, hit again in the gut with her ex! How far exactly is rock bottom and when will my sister arrive? Soon, I hope...we need to see her LIVE again. The worst case scenario....she has to file bankruptcy and lose her career forever and move onto something else. Best case scenario, ex pays this bill and she find a job and can get her car fixed AND find a good man. I'll settle for somewhere in the middle.

All that said....THANK YOU GOD FOR ALL WE HAVE, ALL WE ARE, AND ALL WE DON'T HAVE!
